Runehack: The Asterist

Everling. Because you don't deserve to die!

Your mind has been scanned and sent to the illusory city above the ocean's floor. Everling now houses hundreds of thousands of simulated minds, "ghosts", that live their daily lives in this bizarre place with the goal of preserving them simulated indefinitely. But unlike the most, you are also an Asterist—a citizen of Everling capable of hacking the very machine that simulates you, those around you, and even the city itself.

 Explore the various districts of this city, experience what it means to be a digital ghost, wrap your mind around the two additional simulated spatial dimensions, create connections to get what you want, and hack the world!

About the Game

The only type of dice you'll require for this game are the classical six-sided dice (d6) with pips on them. The core of this system's action is about placing the dice on a square grid, connecting them by their pips in order to create a connection to a desired endpoint. Your abilities allow you to manipulate the dice on and off the board to achieve the victory. And when the time comes for it, try to Hack the World, bending the rules of the game itself to your whim upon success.

This game took me about a year of on-and-off writing, so I'm more than happy that I can finally present it to the world in a playable state. While I doubt it's perfect, I can say that it's as complete as I could make it for its first version. My personal life has been quite busy, so I haven't had enough time to give it a proper playtest with a group. Once that happens, I'll know better what needs to be changed, added, or even removed. I apologize if the game is lacking in some aspects, I hope to fix these once I get to test it out. Thank you for your patience and support throughout the production of this game.
